Do
you want to adopt or sponsor an animal of the Bú Bup Parc?
In May 30th 2000, during a session
presided over by Mayor Ramón Romaguera,
the city council of La Bisbal d'Empordà
approved a proposal to transfer us a land, near 9.000
square meters, located in "Olivar de Baix".
That place has become "Bú Bup Parc - La
Bisbal d'Empordà" where abandoned
animals have found a home thanks to the solidarity
of this city.
Along with other reasons,
the minutes of that session records that the transfer had been approved
because the city would benefit by such a shelter for abandoned
dogs.
To plan building, Fundación
Altarriba tried to unify the three fields of the wide animal
protection work:
First, DIRECT
ASSISTANCE sheltering real animals in a real situation
of abandonment, in a place where welfare
is a priority, with a permanent staff experienced
in animal care.
Second,
as an EDUCATIONAL TARGET, our shelter has
been inspired by our own experience and
similar places in other countries appreciated and
supported by their fellow citizens.
The third field
is to offer ADVICE and support to other associations,
a point directly linked to Bu Bup Parc itself; building
and development can be an example for an updated
conception of an animal shelter, going beyond the traditional
ones and having in mind criteria ignored today.
The question is to avoid a view
that could make visitors to get the false idea that animals
there sheltered are not healthy. It is really difficult to imagine
as a lively dog running and playing in our garden that animal
caged in front of us, undernourished and depressive, along with
other ten ones in the same conditions, in a shelter that should
be congratulated for a lot of effort just to keep them alive.
Since 2002, many
thousand dollars have been already invested to build Bú
Bup Parc.
It will
be finally possible thanks to the members of Fundación
Altarriba and donations.
